Cork Wine Bar
Similar to oenophile favorite Cru in both concept and design, Houston’s latest wine venture Cork Wine Bar is opening its doors closer to inner-loopers (they already have locations in Clear Lake and Pearland). Their extensive menu features a wine list created for the most particular of patrons including over 600-700 choices from Chardonnay to Merlots with everything in between. Nibbles and sweets are also available for enjoying. Cork opens its doors in late April. (1201 San Jacinto St. b/w Dallas & Polk) www.corkwine.net
Guadalajara del Centro
The sister restaurant of Gualajara Hacienda, Guadalajara del Centro is the up and coming hipster locale now open in the downtown pavilion. They offer perfect combinations of Tex Mex cuisine along with the occasional (or frequent) margarita, mojito or sangria. Great location, even better drinks. Dropping the Anvil
For those of you who truly believe that drinking should be a classified art form, the latest hotspot Anvil Bar & Refuge from mix master Bobby Heugel is worth the carefully crafted shot. The extensive luxury menu features innovative creations like spruce tea infused rye or sesame oil immersed in sotol. Heugel ensures an exclusive selection of over 100 brews and spirits (that remain constantly changing) as well as a limited assortment of wines for all you dedicated Chardonnay connoisseurs. Bar patrons can also anticipate impressive nibbles to accompany your drink of choice like oyster Rockefeller pizza or artisan cheese plates. Add vintage glassware, the ex- chef of Textile Dax Mcanear and perfectly concocted libations and there you have a new locale to hit up on Saturday night.
